100% Complete LinkedIn Profiles A Dilemma for Job Seekers
100% Complete LinkedIn Profiles A Dilemma for Job Seekers In my How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Profile webinar on June 22, 2012, delivered for ilostmyjob.com, an important question arose: If you are a job seeker, how should you complete the ââ¬Å"current positionâ⬠item in your profile? LinkedIn presents job seekers with a dilemma: The site requires an ââ¬Å"up-to-date current position (with a description)â⬠for a 100% complete profile (see Profile Completeness list on LinkedIn); and according to LinkedIn, 100% complete profiles are 40 times more likely to be viewed. But if you are a job seeker, you might not have a current position other than ââ¬Å"job seeker.â⬠Should you create a ââ¬Å"fillerâ⬠job description to be 100% complete? Or should you hope that 95%-or-so complete is enough? Adding to this dilemma is that recruiters, according to experts in the careers industry, do not like to see made-up job descriptions in the current position spot. They prefer for job seekers to call a spade a spade, i.e., leave the current position description blank if they are not employed. Resume and LinkedIn profile writers come down on multiple sides of this issue. There are upsides and downsides to all of these options; in the end, let the numbers (how many people find you, view your profile and contact you) guide your choice. Option #1 One camp says to put something in the current position field indicating you are a job seeker. You might give yourself a job title such as ââ¬Å"Target position: VP Operations,â⬠or ââ¬Å"Seeking next opportunity as Graphic Designer.â⬠You can then write a description of what you offer that adds to what you wrote in your Summary. In the company name field, you might enter ââ¬Å"- ââ¬Å"or ââ¬Å"Seeking next opportunity.â⬠Option #2 Some people recommend putting volunteer work as your current position, or your ââ¬Å"jobâ⬠as Manager of a LinkedIn group. I would not recommend either solution unless your volunteer or group manager work is close to full-time. There is a section you can add on LinkedIn called Volunteer Activities and Causes. That is the most appropriate spot in which to put your volunteer activities. Option #3 A third camp says to leave the current job description blank if you donââ¬â¢t have a job, and to complete as many parts of the profile as possible. If your profile is 95% complete, you should still do well in searches. The Essay Expertââ¬â¢s Recommendation You might want to try both Option #1 and Option #3. I wouldnââ¬â¢t recommend Option #2. The great thing about LinkedIn profiles is that you can always change them and do different things to see what works best for you. Try this: (1)à à à Write a current position that says, for example, ââ¬Å"Target Position: General Manager, Automotiveâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Seeking Opportunities as Financial Analystâ⬠à or ââ¬Å"Program Managerà Candidateâ⬠and track how many people view your profile and how often you are appearing in search results (this information can be found on your home page in the right-hand column). (2)à à à à If you are getting sufficient activity in your profile, great. Donââ¬â¢t change anything! If not, the first thing to consider is whether you have enough connections to appear toward the top of searches. I recommend having 500+ connections in order to reliably raise your ranking in search results and increase page views. (3)à à à If you have 500+ connections and your profile is still not getting enough attention, either change what you have in the ââ¬Å"current positionâ⬠section or make it blank for a month. Track your profile views and appearances in search results. (4)à à à Repeat Steps #2 and #3 until you get the results you want. There are more options than these of course. One place to get a sense of what might work is a QA on LinkedIn, begun by Executive Resume Writer Laura Smith-Proulx, which sheds some light on this question.à https://linkd.in/xDJhgq What strategies have been working for you? Contemporary responses by the criminal justice system towards victims Essay
Contemporary responses by the criminal justice system towards victims and witnesses of crime - Essay Example Because most of the documented crime reported to the police by victims and/or witnesses, they evidently have a crucial role to play in the process of dispensing justice, especially in those cases where in the accused denies any culpability. Maybe unexpectedly, considering its reliance on the eagerness of victims and/or witnesses to cooperate, the response of the CJS towards victims and/or witnesses has beforehand been described, at least in common law systems, by disregard and every so often by careless and unsympathetic treatment. Nevertheless, recently, a string of victim-oriented programmes has been launched in the United Kingdom. This essay argues that victims and witnesses nowadays enjoy a much greater role and importance in the criminal justice system than in the earlier periods. The investigation by the Victimsââ¬â¢ Champion for the Ministry of Justice of the response of the CJS to the victims and witnesses emphasised in its statement: ââ¬Å"A great deal of positive work h as been done to improve the support available for victims and witnesses but there is still a disparity between policy and reality for victimsâ⬠(Easton & Piper, 2012, p. 188). ... n three phases: the years related to the growth of compensation, 1960-75; the years related to the growth of particular programmes to assist victims and witnesses, 1975-80; and the era from the 1980s when victim assistance initiatives were established and a greater participation of victims and witnesses in the CJS was called for (Easton & Piper, 2012, pp. 188-189; Hostettler, 2009). The support for victims and witnesses in recent times has had two quite distinct features: first, it may be considered a victimsââ¬â¢ welfare model, while the other procedure is to grant victims importance to affect results. Victimsââ¬â¢ needs were firmly highlighted in Criminal Justice: The Way Ahead. Victims have been granted the opportunity to give a personal report to the court describing the impacts of the crime on their lives. In April 2006, a Code of Practice for the Victims of Crime was ratified (Easton & Piper, 2012, p. 189; Wahidin & Carr, 2013; Dignan, 2005). Nevertheless, in order to dem onstrate how the response of the criminal justice system to victims and witnesses within the criminal justice system has improved in the contemporary period, it is important to look at the victimsââ¬â¢ status within the CJS during the earlier periods. In particular, the ââ¬Ëera of victim disenfranchisementââ¬â¢ emerged in the 19th century, roughly at the same time as the state started to take on the prime obligation for the trial of criminals instead of handing over the task to prosecution bodies, or to victims and witnesses themselves, as in the earlier period (Dignan, 2005, p. 63; Comwell, 2008). According to Comwell (2008), this reassignment of duties co-occurred with the launching of specialised law enforcement, whose duty was to investigate crimes and put alleged criminals on trial. Theoretically,

GAAP VS IFRS Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
GAAP VS IFRS - Essay Example The United States corporations will benefits by converting from GAAP to IFRS. One, IFRS allows extra flexibility than United States GAAP, and because stock option and bonus schemes normally offer managers incentives to enhance earnings, this flexibility will probably be utilized to enhance the income of U.S corporations more frequently than it will be employed to lessen earnings. Two, converting to IFRS from GAAP will give the corporations in America more responsibility in the area of asset valuation as a complete discretion that is also likely to enhance the earnings of U.S corporations. Finally, in the field of research and development costs and the associated field of homegrown intangible asset valuation, IFRS is more liberal than GAAP. IFRS permits only development costs to be integrated in the assets of the corporations, thus, not expensed against earnings (Ciesielski, 2008). Question 2 One, Acquired intangible assets under GAAP are identified at fair value. In contrast, under I FRS, it is solely identified if the asset has measured dependability and will have an imminent economic gain. Here, IFRS will be the most beneficial method to financial statement users. ... Here, IFRS is the most beneficial method. Finally, The conditions for revenue recognition and revenue under IFRS and GAAP are somewhat dissimilar. GAAP gives extra specified guidance than IFRS (Ciesielski, 2008). Therefore, GAAP is the most beneficial method to financial statement users in this case. Question 3 One, there are a number of unknown risks that United States corporations will encounter. These unknown risks are also not predictable to experts. Two, IFRS offers little guidance on specified application and interpretation of the standards. This definite difference from existing practice will require corporations in United States to employ additional judgment in understanding specific standards and their purpose to the business activities of the corporations. Finally, even if the duration experienced by external auditors remains unchanged, more expert senior personnel may be needed to assess the corporationsââ¬â¢ management application of verdict, thus, affecting the levera ge of audit engagements and staffing mix. Three techniques may be used to overcome these obstacles. One, there should be consistent and comprehensive accounting standards that communicate economic reality to a corporation. Two, a corporation should have sufficient corporate governance practices which will guarantee suitable internal controls and adequate execution of accounting standards. Finally, there should be effective and efficient audits which will allow external dependability to the information prepared by a corporation following referred standards (Ciesielski, 2008). Question 4 Two long-term conversion issues on accounting for leases by the lessees are leasehold improvements and percentage rent. Leasehold improvements are lastingly fixed

Military Policy :: essays research papers
POLSCI 111à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à Gerard Chretien Introduction to American Governmentà à à à à à à à à à à à à à à May 15, 2001 MILITARY DEFENSE POLICY Dear Mr. President, à à à à à à à à à à As a proud American and veteran of our great armed forces, I strongly advocate that you initiate a new policy regarding the maintenance and strategic welfare of our nations forces. The current conditions of our military are not in sync with the needs of the 21st century challenges and objectives. There is numerous issues that need to be addressed such as: new weapon development, increase in pay, consolidation of various programs, review of oversea deployment policy and so forth. à à à à à à à à à à Currently you are aware that your predecessor (malignant Bill Clinton) and his administration have not developed any policy to upgrade our forces during his presidential tenure. Having served in the military, I can say from personal experience, that our forces need a desperate infusion of new weapons and strategic programs that would do away with inefficient and obsolete ones. Our men and women, who wear their proud uniform, represent one of Americaââ¬â¢s most treasured assets, thus their needs must be held to a high standard. à à à à à à à à à à During the Clinton era, for that matter, since the end of the Reagan era, defense spending has been systematically reduced across the board (omitting the Gulf War). This type of reduction leaves our armed forces inadequately supplied with resources to combat issues that affect the U.S. domestically and abroad. The current status must be overhauled and restructured. à à à à à à à à à à You may feel that as a result of the Cold-War ending and the majority of America feeling the need to expand our military is not necessary, I urge you not to ride the same track of thought. Having rogue states still capable in constructing weapons of mass destruction (e.g. Iraq) and host of other states that despise our way of life, itââ¬â¢s imperative, now more than ever, that we stay militarily capable and ready to defend Americaââ¬â¢s interest. à à à à à à à à à à Now there is many who believe that the United States should down grade military production because of several factors. First, the United States is the remaining super-power in the world, a threat from an antagonistic country like North Korea or Iraq seems ridiculous and very remote. Secondly we have the worldââ¬â¢s most productive economy, allowing us to build and purchase anything that fits our interest. Last and most importantly we have and sustain the most dangerous armed forces known to man. Such factors leads us to believe that military spending is futile in age of peace time and further more, Americaââ¬â¢s most dangerous rival (Soviet Union) is no longer a threat, but a cooperative diplomatic engaging state.

Both must make decisions on location, work schedules, capacity and allocation of scare resources. 5. Briefly discuss each of these term related to the historical evolution of operations management: industrial revolution, scientific management, interchangeable parts and division of labor. Answer: Industrial Revolution began in 1770s in England and spread to the rest of Europe and to the United States during the 19th century. Then, a number of innovations in the 18th century changed the face of the production forever by substituting machine power for human power. A major change occurred that gave the Industrial Revolution a boost: the deve lopment of standard gauging systems. This greatly reduced the need for custom-made goods. Factories began to spring up and grow rapidly, providing the jobs for the countless people who were attracted in large number form rural areas. Scientific Management era brought widespread changes to the management of the factories. The movement was spearheaded by the efficiency engineer and inventor Frederick Winslow Taylor. Although goods is physical items produced by business organizations and services include activities that provide some combine of time, location, from, and psychological value, goods and services have a relationship to increase number of customers.Beside the company sell the goods, the company need to take care customer with services. It helps the customers trust and pleasure the goods as much as possible. Nowadays, the sale department and customer services department have to connect together to get profit and have potential customers. A good example for that is coffee shop. When you sell cups of coffee for customer, customers not only concern taste as well as the quality of coffee, but also they concern how they are serviced, the coffee is brought quickly or not.Therefo re, it is necessary to combine and improve quality of goods and services. Working for a company instead of for herself: If Hazel continues to find the job, she can find the good and satisfy job. However, she will not realize that she can be able to manage and do business. What Does You Do About Your Memories From Her Childhood
ââ¬Å"Each person traces a unique trajectory of experiences through space and time; as a consequence, each encounter with the world results in an even more unique trajectory of cumulating experiences (Levinas, 1972; Markova, 2006, 2013a; Winnicort, 1990)â⬠. So much of who she had become was a direct product of her development. The timeframe Iââ¬â¢ve chosen to write about is six to twelve. The writer chose to write about this since this is the timeframe she could actually recall the greatest amount of memories from her childhood. As a part of the research process, she got a few books from the library that helped to gain understanding of the memories, jumbled thoughts, and certain headliners that occurred in that timeframe of her life.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Middle childhood is known to cover ages from six to twelve years old. Middle aged children are mainly dealing with the mastery skills from early childhood, inquiry and self- regulation. ââ¬Å"M aslowââ¬â¢s theory states that a childââ¬â¢s most basic needs must be met in order for them to achieve the higher needs and progress up to the hierarchyâ⬠. The three main needs are simplified as physical needs, psychological needs, and emotional needs. . Trust and emotional security provide the basis for all relationships to cultivate. During this timeframe itââ¬â¢s been observed that children are normally going out to explore and be expected to gain more responsibility. Sadly, this the start of where the writerââ¬â¢s life was shaken up and she had to move to her fraternal grandmotherââ¬â¢s house since her parents were officially divorcing, after many years of separation. Family roles, morals and security were all thrown out the door and had to be rebuilt. For many years, the writer bounced from aunt to uncle, cousinââ¬â¢s house or any other relatives that had space. It had been determined in the judicial system that her mother was a ââ¬Å"un- fit parentâ⬠. Shanique Emmanuelââ¬â¢s life began officially on January 6th, 1990; born to Myriam and Edner Emmanuel. Myriam was an outgoing, effervescent, beauty school technician. Edner was a quiet, soft- spoken but ambitious, young man. Both managed to assimilate from migrating from Haiti to America during their
